I’m Alex, and I live and work in Brooklyn. My stories, essays, and reviews have appeared in Granta, The New York Times Book Review, The Point, The Baffler, and Jewish Currents. I’ve received grants and fellowships from Lighthouse Works, MacDowell, The Center for Fiction, and Spruceton Inn’s Artist Residency.

My first novel, Worry, was named one of the best books of 2024 by The New Yorker, Vogue, the BBC, The Washington Post, NPR, and more; it’s now available in paperback wherever books are sold.

Together with Lesley Arfin, I’m the co-creator and writer of Worried, a television adaptation of the novel directed by Nicole Holofcener that’ll make its world premiere in the episodic program at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.
